Künstler: Ross Bleckner
Thema: Ross Bleckner’s paintings and photographs find their place in mist, circling somewhere between ephemerality and time, between infinity and now. An icon of American art in the latter years of the 20th century, Bleckner investigates the intangible – thought, time, memory, loss, immortality, desire -- in luminous, romantic works that capture the imagination, compelling as much to the eye as to the mind. His recent “flower” series form a meditation on beauty and transience, recalling the “vanitas” and floral still life paintings of the Old Masters while claiming a very fresh, contemporary hold on the possibilities of form, color, and the mysterious workings of a technological age. In a 2005 interview, he noted, “Whether it’s anatomical, medical, illustrational, metaphoric, I’m trying to figure out some plausible way that things work or don’t work, to look for some meaning through the language that I’ve chosen to speak.” Bleckner was among the first artists to exhibit with the legendary Mary Boone Gallery in New York, known for showcasing the vanguard artists of the 1980s such as Peter Halley, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Julian Schnabel. He continues to exhibit at Boone today (along with Lehmann-Maupin and other major galleries internationally), even as he devotes much of his time to his work as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador in the fight against human trafficking – a commitment as revealing of his passion for humanity as is his art. We are happy to offer Ross Bleckner's current exhibition to our members. Come and find your favorite artwork for your home, office or summer residence. Künstler: Luzius Ziermann
Thema: Luzius Ziermann loves to do spectacular installations. For his current project, he positions just over 2,500 side-view car mirrors on the ground in the form of the “light” sign he created. The different elements of the sign represent among others the sun and the moon as well as the earth’s rotation. Until now, Ziermann’s light sign has been arranged in the Namibian desert and on the black sand of the Canary Island Lanzarote. Next on the list is Ireland in October 2011. When all mirrors are in place, they reflect the sun at different angles, bringing the light sign to life. ArtCollectorsClub is very happy to offer its members an exclusive edition of photographs of the installations in Namibia and Lanzarote. The photos were taken from a helicopter to capture the full spirit of the installation. Visit us to learn more about this extraordinary artist: www.artcollectorsclub.org

Künstler: Hermann Nitsch
Thema: In his Levitikus series Hermann Nitsch explores rituals and rules of sacrifice in a group of works inspired by the Third Book of Moses – also known as Leviticus. Selected by the Israeli publishing house Har-El in 2010 to create a book with reference to one Old Testament Bible text, he joined the ranks of renowned artists such as Günter Uecker, Jannis Kounellis, Emil Schumacher and Chillida who have also worked on this unique project. For the book itself Nitsch used the terragraph printing method, a special screen-printing process in which sand is applied to the paper to create texture and structure. For this ArtCollectorsClub event, the same technique has been used to apply the images to canvas. Now is your chance to acquire one of the printed canvases, each in an edition of 30. Levitikus has been presented in Museé St. Etienne in France as well as in the Stiftung Dekomte in Seligenstadt, Germany. For 2011 the exhibition is scheduled for the Leopold Museum and in the Jewish Museum of Austria. Visit us to learn more about this extraordinary artist: www.artcollectorsclub.org

Künstler: Kota Ezawa
Thema: Kota Ezawa’s personal narrative is visible in his work, yet he provides viewers only an edited view. While his art may be highly personal, it is not confessional. He chooses to work intuitively with an image or a series of images. Later he may recognize the personal connection, but it is not his primary concern. Each animation, transparency, and intaglio print explores the psychological impact of a revised photograph and its relationship with different technologies. Künstler: William Kentridge
Thema: A runaway success, the simple yet strangely compelling art of William Kentridge spans disciplines from opera direction to animations, and has its base in drawing and print making. Kentridge’s work started to register outside his native South Africa in the 1990s, and has become very influential in a short period. The major award winning show, Five Themes travelled to museums across the US including the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2010, where it drew crowds of 10 000 visitors per day before traveling to the Jeu de Paume in Paris and the Albertina Museum in Vienna where it is currently on view. He has received many prestigious awards including the Kyoto Prize (2010) and the Carnegie Prize (1999). The selection of prints offered here from curators Benefit Print Project and Leroy Neiman Center for Print Studies at Columbia University, New York represent recurring themes in Kentridge’s work. The skillful craftsmanship that is the basis of all of Kentridge’s work is on display, as well as political and social themes, his characteristic mix of media, ongoing interest in optical effects and the nature of perception.
