Mexican artist Mario Cinquemani presents the culmination of his Berlin residency with Beyond The Glaze, a series of portrait paintings that probe the fragile boundary between outer appearance and inner life. Cinquemani’s works confront the traditional genre of portraiture, peeling away layers of representation to reveal psychological tensions and emotional undercurrents that resist easy interpretation.
Through expressive brushwork and subtle distortions, his portraits transcend likeness, becoming mirrors of hidden states of mind. Faces emerge not only as individual identities, but as vessels of vulnerability, longing, and introspection. The exhibition invites viewers to step past the surface, to engage with the unspoken narratives and unguarded truths that lie beneath the glaze.
